Versatile Joy-Con offers many surprising new ways to have fun for players. Two Joy-Cons can be used independently in each hand or together as a single game controller when connected to the Joy-Con Grip. They can also be attached to the main console for handheld mode or be shared with friends to enjoy two-player action in supported games. Each Joy-Con has a full set of buttons and can function as an independent controller, and each includes an accelerometer and a motion-sensing gyroscope, enabling independent left and right motion control.
But that's not all! Imagine the Joy-Con as a glass containing ice cubes. With HD rumble, as you move and tilt the Joy-Con, you can feel the ice cubes clinking against each other. The HD rumble feature is so realistic that you can even tell how many cubes there are, almost as if you were really holding the glass in your hand! The HD rumble feature contained in the Joy-Con creates an immersive gaming experience that cannot be achieved with visuals and sounds alone.
The IR motion camera in the Joy-Con (R) can detect the shape, movement and distance of objects captured by the camera. For example, it can recognize the shape of players' hands, such as when you perform rock-paper-scissors gestures. Thanks to this feature, the possibilities for gameplay are greater than ever!
You can also use amiibo on your Nintendo Switch by touching them to the NFC point on the right Joy-Con controller or the NFC point on the Nintendo Switch Pro controller.
Up to eight controllers can be connected to one console simultaneously via Bluetooth wireless communication – this can be any combination of Joy-Con controllers and other controllers, such as the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (sold separately).
