The FIPS 140-2 validation of the Aegis Secure Key covers 11 areas of its cryptographic security system, including physical security, cryptographic key management, and design integrity. Available in four levels, the FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification includes tamper-resistant physical features and identity-based authentication.

Built-in Alphanumeric Keypad – Prevents Hardware and Software Keylogging
Powered by a rechargeable battery, the Aegis Secure Key allows users to unlock the drive with a 7-16 digit PIN BEFORE connecting to a USB port on a computer, tablet, or mobile device. The integrated keypad prevents attempts to capture the entered password via hardware or software keyloggers on the host system.
Software-Free Design – Easy Implementation Without Administrator Privileges
Separate User and Administrator PINs
The Aegis Secure Key can be configured with independent User and Administrator PINs, making it ideal for corporate and government deployments. If the User forgets their PIN, the drive can be unlocked with the Administrator PIN, who can then remove the forgotten User PIN and allow the User to set a new PIN.
Drive Reset Function
Includes a drive reset feature that erases both User and Administrator PINs, destroys data, generates a new randomly created encryption key, and allows the drive to be reused. The Aegis Secure Key can generate an unlimited number of random encryption keys, enabling users to reset the drive as often as needed.
Durable Dust and Water Resistant Aluminum Enclosure - IP58 Certification Pending
Data protection goes beyond encryption. Rugged enough to go anywhere, the Aegis Secure Key 3.0’s tough design makes it ideal for travel and field applications. Featuring a solid, embossed aluminum enclosure resistant to crushing, the Aegis Secure Key 3.0 is tamper-resistant and well protected against physical damage.
Ingress Protection (IP) rating is an international standard testing electrical products against two main environmental factors: liquids and dust. Tests are independently conducted by a third party and include two separate tests. For certification, the Aegis Secure Key was exposed to a dust chamber for 8 hours and submerged in a water tank at 1 meter depth for 30 minutes, after which the secure key was tested for functionality and inspected for water and dust ingress in its electronics.
Sealed Against Physical Attacks with Durable Epoxy Coating
Internal drive components are fully protected by a super-durable epoxy compound, making it virtually impossible to remove them without causing permanent damage to the electronics. This barrier prevents potential hackers from accessing encryption circuits and launching various possible attacks.
Self-Destruct Feature Against Brute Force Attacks
Since the Aegis Secure Key is unlocked via its own keypad rather than a keyboard, it is immune to software/hardware keyloggers and brute force attacks. Additionally, it protects your data with a programmable "brute force defense mechanism" that deletes the encryption key and destroys all stored data if an incorrect PIN is entered 20 consecutive times.
Auto-Lock on Inactivity
Automatically locks after the drive is disconnected from the USB port, power to the USB port is turned off, or after a programmed period of inactivity.
Wear-Resistant Keypad
Designed for protection, the entire Aegis Secure Drive family features "wear-resistant" keypads to conceal key usage and avoid revealing frequently used keys to potential hackers.
Lock Bypass Mode
Intended for specific cases where the key must remain unlocked through USB port re-enumeration, such as during reboot or virtual machine transitions.
