IntelliTone Pro 200 LAN Tone Generator and Probe

The digital tone generator and probe for network cables tracks and locates cables in an active network.
IntelliTone digital tone technology:
- Eliminates the confusion of cable tracing, effectively removing noise and false signals
- Locates cables in active networks even when they are terminated at a switch
- Isolates a cable and wiring in a bundle despite cable leakage
- Confirms cable location, verifies continuity and detects faults (opens, shorts and reversed pairs) in a single step
- SmartTone analog tone technology:
- Precisely isolates individual conductor pairs by changing the tone when a short is present
- Efficiently traces and locates voice, audio and video cabling
Get advanced cable tracing visibility in patch panels, switches, termination blocks or cables hidden in bundles more effectively. Our new IntelliTone Pro 200 LAN Tone Generator and Probe sets locate cables that others cannot.
The IntelliTone Pro 200 LAN Tone Generator and Probe series from Fluke Networks is the first tone generator and cable tester to offer digital and analog signaling in one tool. This means it is equipped with the most powerful cable locating technologies for any work environment. Use digital mode to safely and effectively trace and locate data cabling in active networks. Use analog mode to isolate individual pairs and to trace voice, audio and video cabling.
The IntelliTone Pro 200 LAN Tone Generator and Probe series from Fluke Networks provides better visibility of cables hidden in floors, ceilings, walls and bundles. This innovative digital tone and network cabling testing technology makes it the first tool for safe and effective tone generation and tracing in active networks.
Only IntelliTone Pro Tone Generator and Probe offer a powerful combination of digital and analog technologies to address common infrastructure issues that arise during installation, maintenance and changeovers in networks.
Digital and analog tone generation in one tool.
Today’s media networks are more diverse than ever. Most buildings have a mix of telephone, twisted-pair, coaxial, and security/alarm cabling. Verifying proper routing and terminations of this diverse cabling set requires tools optimized for different frequencies, connector types and operating environments. Until now, no single tool combined the right technologies to operate across all copper media types and environments. IntelliTone Pro changes that by combining modern digital and analog signaling to locate and verify nearly every copper cable, regardless of application or environment.
When to use digital mode
Digital IntelliTone Pro coded signal should be used primarily with high-quality data cabling (Cat 5e/6/6a) and active network environments. It operates at a high frequency to match the higher data frequencies that the cable is designed to carry. This enables you to overcome competing data signals and aggressive low-frequency terminations of Ethernet switches. This means LAN cabling technicians can quickly focus on the right cable during installation or troubleshooting.
Digital tone generation is especially helpful when the cable has already been located, as it displays a map of the cable’s conductors and checks for shorts, opens and wiring faults. The IntelliTone Pro 200 Probe has an RJ45 input port and a CableMap function, enabling it to be connected directly to a patch panel or wall outlet. The benefit of this cable map test is double: it eliminates the need for both a toner and a mapper and provides 100% confirmation that the correct cable has been located.
When to use analog mode
SmartTone analog tone can be used on voice-grade cabling (Cat 3 and below), as well as on coaxial cabling, security/alarm cabling and speakers. These cables are optimized for lower-frequency transmission, making them easier to isolate with a low-frequency tone. It should also be used in areas with relatively low interference from other electronic devices. In high-interference environments, digital mode may still be the better choice.
SmartTone analog tone eliminates the frustrating uncertainty when tracing individual conductor pairs during installation. The analog SmartTone signal changes its “tunes” each time the tested pair is shorted. This provides telecom technicians with a decisive way to identify individual conductor pairs before connecting them to a jack or block, and during diagnostics of voice transmission problems.
Isolation of terminated cables
The IntelliTone Pro Toner uses the unique properties of twisted-pair cabling to create a balanced signal that minimizes crosstalk. The intelligent digital signal processing in the IntelliTone Pro probe clearly identifies this signal with audio indicators and LED visuals, allowing you to quickly isolate the correct cable from a bundle or from a patch panel. IntelliTone eliminates hours of cable-related confusion – you can rely on getting it right the first time.
Isolation of individual conductor pairs
With traditional toners and analog probes, precisely isolating individual conductor pairs can be nearly impossible due to signal leakage between pairs. As a result, pairs are often routed and terminated incorrectly on the first try. Repeating incorrect terminations or pulling new cabling wastes vast amounts of time and money. Analog SmartTone Pro eliminates uncertainty and improves accuracy, delivering definitive confirmation when a tested pair is located. Simply short the pair under test and the device’s tone will change its pitch. The difference is dramatic.
Eliminate callbacks during relocations, additions and changes of cables with the powerful diagnostics capabilities of IntelliTone. The IntelliTone Pro Probe offers CABLEMAP, identifying common twisted-pair wiring faults. IntelliTone technology automates testing of every conductor for end-to-end continuity; LEDs and tones clearly indicate wiring faults such as opens, shorts and reverse pairs.
Modern network devices use aggressive termination schemes for cables connected to their ports. While such terminations reduce noise and crosstalk in the cable, they can also absorb the tone signal, making the connected cable undetectable by an analog tone test. As a result, locating unmarked networks can take hours using analog technology. Unlike analog signals, the digital IntelliTone signal remains strong despite widespread termination. And the IntelliTone Pro toner automates tone generation for individual conductors, making cable tracing in active networks fast, efficient and safe.
Perform relocations, additions and changes with the powerful diagnostics capabilities of the IntelliTone Pro tone generator and probe
Tone generation - IntelliTone makes it easy to quickly locate a cable in the equipment rack during relocations, additions and changes. An unplugged cable can be rapidly isolated in the presence of interference.
CableMap - The IntelliTone Pro 200 Probe provides the CableMap feature that identifies common twisted-pair wiring faults. A pin-by-pin verification confirms exact conductor opens, breaks or mis-wires. LEDs and distinctive tones clearly indicate wiring faults. Built-in CableMap eliminates the need for separate tools or returning to the end to replace the toner with a mapper. The IntelliTone Pro 200 kit is an all-in-one tool for locating and mapping Cat 5 cabling, even when plugged into a switch, and for verifying link service after relocations, additions and changes.
Ethernet link verification - is the link correct, flipped due to an uplink port swap, or MDIX? Identify active Ethernet services present at the office boundary. LEDs clearly indicate normal, reversed or MDIX Ethernet connections.
