20TB HDDs with OptiNAND technology
OptiNAND integrates iNAND® Universal Flash Storage (UFS) embedded flash storage (EFD) with traditional disk media, introducing innovative changes to firmware algorithms and on-chip systems (SoC). OptiNAND is not a hybrid technology. The drive operates smarter, leveraging enhanced firmware algorithms that use extended metadata moved to iNAND, enabling more tracks per inch (TPI) and, as a result, increased areal density.
The Ultrastar DC HC560, with the first implementation of capacity-enabling features of OptiNAND technology, delivers best-in-class 20TB capacity on a nine-disk platform (2.2TB per platter) with a CMR write format.
